A Gaint Cyclone Amphan Struck At West Bengal - By Staff Reporter Kolkata, May, 22: A giant cyclone Amphan struck West Bengal and the adjoining areas last night. This cyclone Amphan showed its wild look, especially at Kolkata. It hit Kolkata at a speed of 185 km per hour. According to the weatherologist the storm had lasted over 40 minutes blowing off a large number of houses and trees in the city. Approximately 4000 people became homeless. About 72 people died in West Bengal and 8 death have been confirmed in Orissa. Medinipur, North 24 Paragana and South 24 Paragana have been greatly affected by this giant storm. Thousands of mud-houses have been collapsed. Electric posts bent down due to the powerful wind of Amphan. The coastal areas like Gosaba, Bakkhali, Sagardwip have been affected badly.
